I am the Treasurer of the Society for the Science of Motivation (SSM). Since 2017, I handle all the society’s financial transactions, including tax and vendor payments. My first major task was to oversee the process of reincorporating the society as a non-profit entity in good legal standing within the state of California. My second (equally pressing) task was to steer the society towards a financial turnaround since the society was operating at a loss when I joined.
Now, we are financially solvent and I am enjoying the fun part of being treasurer– helping to decide how the funds should be allocated to give back to our society members, and the interdisciplinary mission we serve. It is an exciting time to be part of our small but growing society!
Additionally, I serve on the Editorial Review Board of Motivation Science, and serve as co-chair and founding committee member of the AAPI Mentoring Network at Stony Brook University. I am also part of the newly-founded AAPI Heritages Committee, which is working with DI3 and Student Affairs to sponsor the inaugural Asian Heritage Month at SBU.
